Candle Care Tips

Wax and Wane's Candle Care Tips

Always keep the wick of your candle trimmed to approximately 1cm.The candle will tell you when it needs trimming as the length of the flame will increase.

If your candle is over 2” in diameter, THE FIRST TIME you light it, allow it to burn for several hours so there is a large melt pool of wax. This 'opens' up the candle ensuring it burns most of it, instead of burning only a small core down the centre.

Keep candles out of draughts when lit-draughts can cause candles to smoke, drip and burn unevenly.

Keep the candle wick central. When your candle has been alight for a while, look at the melt pool to see if it is burning centrally. If not simply push the wick fractionally towards the area it is not melting and it will correct itself.

Keep candle out of direct sunlight : this will prevent fading.

Always extinguish your candle with a snuffer.

Always place your candle on a non-flammable receptacle.

Candle Care Tips

Large diameter candle burning tips (Candles of 2" diameter and over, large fat round and squat fat round)

The first time you light your candle, burn it for 4-5 hours so that a large melt pool is formed, by doing this you will open up the wax and on subsequent lightings the candle will follow that path using most of the wax.  If you only light this size candle for say 1 hour on the first burning, it will only burn a small core down the middle wasting a lot of your candle.  ALWAYS remember to keep your wick trimmed.

Conical and pyramid shaped candles

Due to the shape of these candles, you will need to trim the wick more frequently until the candle burns down into the wider part of the candle.

Scented candle wax tip

If you do have any wax left at the end of your candle and it is scented, break up the wax into small pieces and place small amounts on top of an oil burner (no water) light the burner and it will melt the wax releasing the fragrance.
